Optimal use of renewable energy
In the transition to a sustainable energy supply, it is important to maximize the energy potential of renewable sources such as wind, sun, water and soil use. Against this background, KIVI and USI organized several series of debate nights. In addition, USI launched a series of New Energy Labs in 2015.
Energy NL 2050 labs
In this new series of four meetings, the transition of the total Dutch energy system - electricity, heat and transport energy - towards a profound sustainable scenario will be discussed intensively. The objective in sustaining the energy system is to lower CO2 emissions to well below 30 megatons. Electrification plays an important role and will therefore lead to a sharp increase in power demand, from 120 TWh now to the double or triple amount by 2050.
Home Labs 2050
"The houses that are built today and in the near future will still be in use by 2050. Will they meet the demands and wishes of 2050? Do we take into account important issues of the future?" In the fall of 2014 and spring of 2015 KIVI and USI will organise a series of seven meetings in which these questions will be discussed systematically.
Solar-PV 2050 Power Labs
Following the series of five EU 2050 Power Labs, KIVI and USi organized two meetings specifically focused on the role of solar energy in the energy transition.
EU 2050 Power Labs
The EU-2050 Power Lab is a series of 5 meetings in 2013 focused on the transition to a sustainable power supply. The study 'Power Roadmap 2050' by the European Climate Foundation shows that this should be possible while maintaining a reliable, robust power system. The challenges and possible solutions to achieve this goal are the theme of the series of meetings organized by KIVI and USI.
